Thesis/Dissertation Diary.
Entry 1 - 18th February 2025.
This is my first post for my dissertation diary.
I have chosen a general idea and theme for my topic. Yet, despite my attempts, I am struggling to focus this into a sufficiently academic way, and format it accordingly.
My goal is to research businesses in the northwest of the UK and why they chose to not adopt emergent technology for their needs in operations and management. Such as the tradition of using cash, for instance.
This is a fairly close topic, but still not close enough to qualify as a research question. I've got some resources to use and will employ them to concentrate this further. Also, I have to re-educate myself on reflective writing.
Entry 2 - 19th February 2025.
I am continuing to struggle heavily with developing a realistic research topic.
It has meant having to cut down on ideas which were of great interest to me, in respect of areas more practical.
Ultimately, my degree is on management theory and practice, and my most available asset to research are the students at the university.
Therefore, the subject of consumer perceptions towards an area of management theory or practice would make most sense.
It is disappointing to me, however I'm glad to have finally found solid ground, and in my own way.
On reflection it has taken many, many attempts and there has been sometimes a sense of despair, but I have now found solid ground.
End.
